KAD's very own President, Sharon White was honored at the third-annual Governor's Ambassador Awards ceremony, established in 2008 to recognize the service of state workers. Sharon was honored for working diligently to correct a wrong where deaf African-Americans were denied a high school diploma simply because of their race. The state of Kentucky acknowledged this terrible injustice then recognized each of them as graduates by awarding them a diploma.

KAD is extremely proud of this wonderful accomplishment by the President of KAD, especially because Sharon helped push deaf issues to the forefront.

On October 20th KET's Community Cinema will show a film called "Deaf Jam" in two cities in Kentucky, Lexington and Louisville. The film, focused on poetry in ASL, will be preceded by a reception in Lexington.
